Animal laws are not sufficiently protecting animals in South Africa. Harsher, stricter punishment should be put in place for offenders. The number of strays and numerous shelters that are full to capacity is proof. Many animals are killed in hit and run daily. If a human is hit by a vehicle, it is a criminal offense. Why is the life of an animal not regarded in the same manner as a human life?
Animals suffer neglect starvation, torture, abuse, over breeding, they are killed in dog fighting, used as dog bait, some are even eaten. The way in which a human treats animals. This shows their true character.
