Catalunya prohibits silvestrism

The Generalitat de Catalunya has decided to ban silvestrism because the European Commission has opened an infringement procedure against Spain in which it is said that the country is unprotecting the wild birds in various communities, including Catalonia. For this reason and at the risk of a conviction, the Generalitat decided to ban silvestrism.

Little by little the rules will be complied with in regard to the defense of animals, and in this case in particular of birds, so that mistreatment is permanently left in oblivion.

Prohibit the silvestrismo

The silvestrismo is a "hobby" that is dedicated to capture, breed and to compete in competition of specimens of wild birds such as goldfinches or the wild canary. In many European countries have been banned because of the serious consequences that represents such as the reduction of specimens in the wild, the overages of captures of silvestristas themselves and other people end up in nests theft or specimens outside the terms permitted by Law.

In my opinion the capture of wild animals that die in captivity due to high levels of stress experienced should be prohibited and should only be approved breeders who could devote to the distribution of specimens to fans.

Currently more and more the shocking news arising from finding of up to 200 wild finches perished in captivity. Let's just enough! Wild adults birds must live in freedom.
