There are countless cases known through the press and social networks where mistreatment, killings and torture against animals have remained in impunity. The recent case of a dog named Cholito, beaten to death, by order, by a couple in a shopping arcade in Recoleta, can be without punishment for those responsible if the full rigor of the Law is not applied.
The current legislation leaves much to be desired and prison sentences and exemplary fines are urgently needed so that these disgusting events do not happen again and justice is done.
With this request, all the signatories ask the National Congress of Chile to amend the Laws that protect animals to increase both fines and time in prison. We need these people to go to jail for everyone to learn that anyone can do this to an animal and go unpunished.
