Agreement with faculties of veterinary medicine to form groups of volunteers for the castration of dogs and cats

Addressed to: Municipalities of Curitiba and Metropolitan Region

Every day we see news of abandoned animals, going hungry, cold and suffering from ill treatment, dying of diseases due to lack of adequate nutrition and vaccination. The poorest people would often want to castrate their animals but due to the cost they do not, and there is indiscriminate reproduction, which causes the abandonment of whole litters.

It is not uncommon for puppies to end up dead by drowning or suffocation, and mothers, within a few months, will again procreate and the cycle will be repeated indefinitely. Those that survive will also reproduce, so that more and more the number of those animals in the streets increases. With the organization of groups of volunteers, it opens the possibility that poor families have their animals sterilized and in the medium and long term, the number of abandoned animals will have decreased.

These groups of volunteers could also do a job of raising awareness of families about the need to keep their animals at home, as well as that, even if it is an animal, it should be treated with care, and should not be left at the mercy of abuse by family members or third parties.
