Bill prohibiting fireworks in BH

The City Council of Belo Horizonte approved on Wednesday the first turn a bill that prohibits the manufacture, marketing, handling, use, burning and release of fireworks and pyrotechnic devices of sound effect in the city.

According to the text, authored by councillor Osvaldo Lopes (PHS), noise pollution caused by fires causes harm to animals, children and the elderly as well as harming the environment by the dissemination of carbon dioxide (CO2) and strontium particles , substances considered toxic.

The project still provides for a fine of R $ 3 thousand for an individual and R $ 10 thousand for a legal entity. The control would be in charge of the city council.

Original petition

Addressed to: Municipality of Belo Horizonte

Suggestion: are we going to adopt the use of fireworks without noise? (Neighborhoods: Anchieta, San Pedro, Sion, Carmo and surroundings)

Thousands of carbon dioxide particles scattered through the air. A rumble that scares animals of all kinds and also scares humans. It's the fireworks !!!

The problem is not only with animals, but with the environment and even with humans. The elderly, the sick and special people, as autistic, suffer with noise. Do you have a baby at home? Then imagine: you just put your baby to sleep and relieved, breathe, but be surprised with a "huge noise", are fireworks very close to you !! Exasperating, is not it? Well imagine this noise, repeated times in a weekend ?!

The use of fires with noise is a subject that is well discussed today and is even prohibited in some places. So, why do you continue with this habit?

Through small actions we can change a tradition. Do you know that there is currently the sale of fireworks without noise? Well yes, it exists! So let's celebrate with them, in this way we do not disturb the peace or the rest of the people and diminish the catastrophic consequences caused by noise to animals, the environment and humans.

During the year there are many festive events and commemorative dates, even religious, such as, for example, the beautiful and traditional festivals that are promoted by the Our Lady of Carmen Parish (BH / MG), which bring so much joy to our region. Considering that fireworks are used in these festivities, we saw through this peaceful request that we support the parish in the exchange of fireworks with noise by the silent fires in their events. In this way we would initiate an exemplary movement for Belo Horizonte, considering that, in several aspects, this institution is a reference for belo-horizontina population. Therefore, the focus of this request is to ask the Parish for a simple change, which will show that it is an EXAMPLE for our city. From there, surely, it will be possible to positively influence the population of the surrounding neighborhoods (San Pedro, Anchieta, Sion and Carmo) to do the same in their parties and commemorations, mainly in football matches and carnivals.

It is important to think about the people who live around you, foreseeing the principle and rights of well-being, respect, silence and rest of your neighbors, for the safety of your special children (autistic) and showing that you care and care with the animals and the environment of your region. The parish is already a reference and influential in these actions, nothing better that is even more with this example.

Obs .: This is a request that should be made to all events that use fireworks, to all parishes, to clubs, bars and citizens of Belo Horizonte. Let's make it clear that it's not just the parish in question that uses fires. This petition is a way to raise awareness among all people not to use sound fireworks at events and to start a movement of awareness through the example.
