The European Parliament approved the elimination of subsidies to bullfighting. Victory!

Amendment
28b. It reiterates that CAP appropriations or any other budget appropriations to finance bullfighting activities involving the death of the bull should not be used; recalls that such funding is a clear violation of the European Convention on protection of animals kept for farming purposes (Directive 98/58 / EC).

That the European Union stop subsidizing bullfighting

The European Convention on protection of animals in herds says "should not suffer pain, distress or being victims of injuries," so that all animals bred for bullfighting do not meet the requirements demanded by the European Union to be recipients agricultural subsidies.

Despite this the European Union allocates every year around 130 million Euros in taxes of all of us to help this type of farming. Only in Spain about 26 million Euros went to 200 members of the Union of Breeders of Fighting Bulls.

It seems a shame that this money is intended for animal abuse and not to education, health and to alleviate the situation of mortgages and evictions. In times of crisis we cannot allow our tax dollars are squandered in this way.

So I ask the European Parliament to remove subsidies to bullfighting. Use that money to help people, to help the animals, not to give to a group of wealthy people who live the suffering of animals. Torture is not culture.
